Remembering Rizal
Many weeks ago, we watched a play called "Batang Rizal" the plot was so amazing and funny, the actors and actresses were good too. It was held at assumption theater at Antipolo city. We went to that place having a good time with my classmates chatting and playing at the jeepney. When we got there, we waited for a very long time, about two hours or so. We spent that two hours by chatting and playing again and again and again. When we were called to form a line, I was excited to go in the theater to watch the play and feel some cool air inside. Falling in line was also hard because it was too hot and crowded, suddenly I heard some incident that a student was overrun by a jeep, obviously i ignored it and continued to find some things i could keep busy with. The closer we got to the theater, someone handed out the tickets one by one.
Finally!! We are inside the theater. The air conditioner was stronger than i thought that i had to use my very warm jacket. The play started with a man called Pepito, a very clever child. His classmates accidentally broke the statue of Rizal that is going to be used in their buwan nang wika, they blamed Pepito for braking the statue and their teacher scolded Pepito and told him to find a way to fix the statue. Finding a way to fix the statue, Pepito found a magical book that lets you travel over time, he found himself in the timeline of Rizal when he was still a child. They immediately became friends and traveled time together. There was this unforgettable moment when pepe (batang rizal) forgot his sandals and said wooooahhhhh!!! tsinelas kooooooo!!!! The whole crowd bursted into laughter, we did not know whether it is scripted or not.
The whole play made me laugh and made that moment unforgettable. I wish i could watch that play again but the entrance fee was so expensive but that did not matter because that play was worth the time and money we payed. It also made us realize that we must not forget our culture and traditions. Near the end of the play, Rizal said something that i never forgotten. Heroism is not measured by silver statues but what is inside our mind and hearts.
